The Haight: 1969&%10;Junkies wandering the dawn,&%10;wraiths in bright clothing,&%10;vague in their near transparency.&%10;Two Shiva worshippers,&%10;naked as sunlight,&%10;chanting morning mantras in a park tree.&%10;Acid dealers, electric shamen,&%10;amid acolytes dressed in rainbows.&%10;Amber streetlamps glowing,&%10;witchlights in the dusk.&%10;Musk of patchouli,&%10;Citysmell of bus exhaust,&%10;Distant tang of ocean.&%10;A mystic incense of home &%10;to those once transformed&%10;and still dreaming.

Sweet curling smoke &%10;in the caves of my mind;&%10;feathery cushion for thoughts or not.&%10;A hazy afternoon,&%10;trees dancing minuets &%10;with obliging birds.&%10;The air is heavy and slow.&%10;Sun pancakes on griddle rocks.&%10;I could sleep I suppose;&%10;a nod to Morpheus, without pretensions,&%10;and the ground here is so soft.
